Deputy Minister Eduardo Gustale presented to 20 CEOs and executives of Latin American banks and fintech companies the factors that position the country as a competitive destination for investment and business.
Vice Minister Eduardo Gustale presented Paraguay's competitive advantages and opportunities to a delegation of 20 CEOs, founders, and senior executives from banks, fintech companies, and technology firms across Latin America. The event was organized by the Paraguayan Fintech Chamber as part of Paraguay Tech Week and the Fintech Iberoamerica Summit, gatherings that brought together regional leaders from the financial and technology sectors in Asunción to foster the exchange of experiences, build business relationships, and explore new investment and cooperation opportunities.
Economic strengths of the country
During his presentation, Gustale detailed the main factors that position Paraguay as a competitive destination for investment. Among them, he highlighted the macroeconomic stability achieved over more than two decades, the attainment of investment grade status, sustained economic growth, fiscal discipline, the competitiveness of the tax system, and the availability of a predominantly young workforce.
He also referred to the advantages derived from the country's strategic location, its availability of clean and renewable energy, its access to the main markets in the region, and the incentive regimes in place for the installation and expansion of companies.
Tools for investing and exporting
The deputy minister also reviewed the instruments available to companies: the maquila regime, Law No. 60/90, free zones, the raw materials regime, the High Technology Products Assembly Law and the Paraguay Investor Pass.
The event also included a panel discussion with the Deputy Minister of Trade and Services, Alberto Sborovsky, and the Deputy Minister of SMEs, Gustavo Giménez. Both outlined the actions being promoted by the National Government—and, in particular, the Ministry of Industry and Trade—to strengthen the business environment, support SMEs and startups, and expand their access to financing tools.
A growing fintech ecosystem
During the exchange, the progress made in the country's digital transformation, the development of new financial instruments and services, the incorporation of technology into business processes, and the growth of the Paraguayan fintech ecosystem were discussed.
The authorities stressed the importance of continuing to promote an environment that facilitates innovation, financial inclusion and the adoption of digital solutions, as well as greater coordination between the public sector, financial institutions, technology companies, startups and investors.
The meeting provided an opportunity to showcase to regional leaders the conditions that Paraguay offers for the development of businesses related to financial and technological services, as well as to generate contacts with potential partners interested in learning about the Paraguayan market and evaluating opportunities in the country.
