In an effort to strengthen trade relations between Paraguay and Southeast Asia, Bruno Jaén-Bohorques, president of the Mercosur ASEAN Chamber of Commerce (MACC) in Paraguay, highlighted the work of Rediex and the importance of these growing markets.
Paraguay seeks to consolidate its position as a strategic partner in Southeast Asia, expanding its presence in key markets and attracting investments that will drive the country's economic development, strengthening its position in international trade.
Jaén-Bohorques, president of the MACC, highlighted Rediex's ongoing support in trade missions, including a recent visit to Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The main focus is attracting investment to Paraguay and promoting Paraguayan products in the Southeast Asian market, which is expected to grow significantly in terms of the middle class and food consumption.
The president of the MACC highlighted the region's great potential, noting that it is the area in the world with the highest projected growth, according to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). "It's a region that will generate a larger middle class and have high food consumption, precisely what Paraguay produces," he added.
Regarding opportunities for Paraguay, he mentioned that raw materials such as meat, soybeans, dairy products, and leather are in growing demand in these countries due to the Westernization of consumer habits. He also highlighted that Paraguay could attract technology investments from Asian companies seeking to enter Mercosur.
"If we manage to open markets like Malaysia or Indonesia, which have hundreds of millions of consumers, we could see exponential growth in exports, just as happened with Paraguayan beef in Taiwan," he said.
