The Minister of Industry and Trade, Javier Giménez, presented in Mburuvicha Róga the new authorities who will lead the vice-ministries of Industry, Trade and Services, and Rediex, with the aim of strengthening industrial development, trade and promoting the attraction of foreign investments.

During the ceremony, Minister Giménez appointed Marco Riquelme, a professional with extensive experience in the sector and a vision oriented towards the country's progress, as head of the Vice Ministry of Industry.

On the other hand, the head of the MIC also announced Rodrigo Maluff, who, after his management in the Export and Investment Network (Rediex), will lead the Vice Ministry of Commerce and Services, contributing his experience to promote local and international trade. Finally, Rediex will be led by Javier Viveros, a young businessman with an outstanding career in the private sector. Meanwhile, the Vice Ministry of MSMEs will continue to be headed by Vice Minister Gustavo Giménez.

Vision of an industrial Paraguay

During his presentation, the Vice Minister of Industry, Marco Riquelme, spoke of the vision of an industrial Paraguay that he shares with both Minister Giménez and the President of the Republic. At this point, he spoke of the industrialization of raw materials as a source of employment. “Today, 75% of our exports are raw materials, which means that we give our competitive advantage to other countries,” he said, while indicating that the efforts of the Vice Ministry will focus on giving added value to local raw materials.

Logistics and debureaucratization

In turn, the Vice Minister of Commerce and Services, Rodrigo Maluff, said that his administration will be based on lowering logistics costs, taking into account that Paraguay is a landlocked country; helping entrepreneurs to devote more time to growing their businesses, and transparency as a country.

Increase FDI and new markets

For his part, Javier Viveros said that the Investment and Export Network will direct its efforts to attract investments in key sectors, in addition to conquering new markets with a renewed and diversified export matrix, with a view to increasing economic growth above 4%.

“At Rediex we will work hard to promote exports, diversify the export matrix, attract strategic investments and the Country Brand,” he said, adding that he will work closely with the private sector.

Formalization through incentives

Finally, the Vice Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Gustavo Giménez, said that, after the promulgation of the new MSME Law, announced on Tuesday, a significant increase in formalization will be achieved through incentives for this economic sector. This will be joined by other axes such as access to credit, new markets and training.
