The Paraguayan agricultural export sector celebrates a new milestone with the export of persimmons produced in the department of Misiones to European markets, thanks to the joint work of SENAVE and Rediex, reaffirming the country's commitment to quality and sustainability.

To date, approximately 34.000 kilograms of persimmons have been shipped to Europe, marking a key step in the consolidation of Paraguayan fruit in the international market. Frutas del Paraguay SA, located in Cerro Costa, Santa María District, is leading this effort with the recent export of 33.800 kilograms, which were rigorously inspected by regional technicians from the National Plant and Seed Quality and Health Service (SENAVE).

The first air shipment to Spain was shipped on April 1st, with a shipment of approximately 8 tons, while five additional shipments, ranging from 5.000 to 10.000 kilograms each, were dispatched last week to Spain. This process strictly complies with the phytosanitary controls required by the destination country, guaranteeing the quality and safety of the products.

Since launching persimmon exports in 2023, Frutas del Paraguay has increased its export figures, going from 130.000 kilograms in the first year to 200.000 kilograms in 2024, and projecting a volume between 400.000 and 600.000 kilograms in 2025, with the ambitious goal of reaching 3 million kilograms in the coming years.

According to Jimmy Kim, Senior Export Specialist at Rediex: "We had direct contact with both the company and SENAVE, carrying out technical and inter-institutional work that allowed us to support exports. We are now working to open up new markets, such as Brazil, strengthening our commitment to the export sector."

The export of Paraguayan persimmons represents a collective success that reinforces the country's commitment to positioning its products worldwide, while boosting local economic development and expanding international markets.
